What happens if you can’t repair my gearbox?
If a repair is out of the question then we will supply you with a replacement. We stock over 1000 parts at any one time, so we will have your part installed quickly with no fuss.

Do you only repair manual gearboxes?
No, at Bohernabreena Gearbox Centre we repair both manual and automatic gearboxes. We also stock parts for both types of gearboxes.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, all repair work carried out by us comes with a warranty. All work is subject to stringent testing to ensure everything is in perfect working order before you drive off.
Can you repair anything else?

What is gearbox maintenance?
Our gearbox maintenance service includes a full check up on your gearbox and transmission to make sure it stays in full working order. We also change gearbox oil and can make sure that your cars software is working correctly.
What if I need a whole new gearbox?
Requiring a whole new gearbox will only happen if it has become severely damaged and we will always do our best to limit the repairs. However, if you need complete new installation then our team of mechanics will remove your old gearbox and install a new one to the highest of standards.
How does a clutch and gear stick work?
The clutch consists of a large disc in between the gearbox and engine. This disc is attached to the engine and spins with it. When you press in on teh clutch it dsiconnect the disc from the engine letting you change the gear. When you take your foot off the clutch to move the car, the disc is pressed against the gearbox causing the gears to turn.
What is a direct shift gearbox?
A DSG, or direct shift gearbox, is a combination of both an automatic and manual gearbox. It is an electronically controlled clutch, without the usual clutch pedal. In other words you still need to manually change the gears but you do not need a clutch to do so.
Why does my transmission need oil?
The oil in your transmission acts as a lubricant and allows of a smooth transition between gears. This oil should be changed regularly as the oil becomes dirty overtime and this makes it less effective.
How do I know if I need a new clutch?
There are a few tell tale sign that your clutch needs to be replaced. These include a burning smell as you shift gears, the car unexpectedly slipping out of gear, a sticky or sensitive clutch pedal, and smoke coming from the engine.
